SPAM
[I realize writing "Viagra" and SPAM in the same post might seem a bit paradoxical but, oh well. What can you do?]
I was going through a bit of my Akismet Spam collector thing today. I used to check it periodically because there’d be the occasional comment that really wasn’t SPAM. But now, I just can’t keep up. Oh, how I miss the days where I’d get only one or two Viagra SPAM comments a day and SPAMers would actually personalize their SPAM.
What really gets to me is just how pathetic these messages are. In fact, I’m rather offended. Do I mean nothing to you!? Seriously, practically all my SPAM is the same thing with just a different link.
I have like 50 of these on one page:
“abirritative resistless endogen piss guarauno tesseral ostracoderm phenyl
This one, though I’m sure I’ve seen it before, at least tries to get through my filter:
“It’s quite fascinating. Your posts are really interesting. To have a good resource you should not only to post smth, but do it with your soul. You do your best.”
Can’t forget about the obligatory:
“Nice post.” [With either an author's website link to an awful site, or something like "You rock" in the actual comment being linked to a site for cheap Viagra.]
This one had me going until the last two sentences or so (or, of course, the author’s site link leading to ‘free’ naughty images):
“Hello I was browsing Internet searching for famous musician and your blog regarding Mika concert, Kool Haus, Jan. 29, 2008 came my way. Very interesting! You really do know your thing! I\’m gonna bookmark you and come back in a few to see your new posting! Looking forward to! Cheers!”
This one led to me to a somewhat decent forum but when I got to the most definitely illegal “free downloadable DVDs” portion of the index, I quickly stopped trying to find some trace of an acceptable comment:
“Hi there, what made you want to write on One, two, three, four, five, six, nine, or ten? I was wondering, because I have been thinking about this since last Tuesday.”
The last I’ll mention, and most stupid, is just sad in general:
“Nice blog, thanks.”
