Graduation
Grad was today. I’m somewhat in the writing mood but nothing is really coming out, so I’ll update this at a later time. It was a nice ceremony. It wasn’t anything huge and proper like most high schools’, not that I was expecting or wanting better. As you can see, it was quaint in its own way.
A lot of people who left at the end of last semester came because they did graduate with this year’s class, they simply finished last semester (for whatever reason). It was nice seeing friends I haven’t really kept in touch with.
I met a few parents, family members, and other people connected to my fellow graduates. (I think this has happened before) I met two people who knew who I was before I actually met them. One even knew my last name and everything. And it was entirely because of FaceBook.
I don’t have a problem with this pers se since I know I’ve come in contact with people whose FaceBook reputations precede our first face-to-face. Like, I’ll see pictures of people in my friends’ profile pictures, etc. and then see these people at a get together. I don’t take it the wrong way since whatever pictures there are tagged of me online is something I’m clearly willing to share publicly — FaceBook isn’t private after all. Either way, it just feels weird every time.
I didn’t win any kind of award aside from the Ontario Scholar thing which means I got at least 80% in over six Grade 12 credits or something like that. I initially thought everyone was going to get one but turns out only four did, one of which didn’t even show up.
